The Orillia Museum of Art & History (OMAH) invites members, supporters, and the community to attend its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.
The evening will feature a special guest presentation by Ben Cousineau of Chippewas of Rama First Nation, who will speak about repatriation, decolonizing museum collections, and the importance of returning cultural belongings to their rightful communities. Cousineau’s presentation will offer important insight into evolving museum practices and the role museums play in reconciliation, relationship-building, and cultural stewardship.
The AGM will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Orillia Museum of Art & History, located at 30 Peter Street South, Orillia. Following the guest presentation, OMAH will conduct its formal business meeting, including the election of Board Directors and presentation of organizational updates.
Community members are encouraged to register in advance:

As part of the AGM process, OMAH’s Governance Committee undertook a comprehensive Board recruitment and nomination review process. The process included an open call for nominations, blinded application review using a standardized competency-based scoring matrix, structured interviews, and reference checks conducted by a mixed Election Subcommittee consisting of external and internal representatives.
Based on the final assessment process, the Election Subcommittee has recommended the following candidates for election to the Board of Directors:
- Dillion Bickell
- Susan Gibb
- Allison MacDonald
- Donald Philip
The recommended candidates bring a range of experience in governance, community engagement, fundraising, leadership, Indigenous perspectives, collaboration, and organizational stewardship.
“OMAH continues to evolve as a community cultural organization committed to accessibility, learning, creativity, and meaningful public engagement,” said Abby Sirisegaram-Cole, Vice Chair of the board of directors of OMAH. “We are grateful for the dedication of our Board, staff, volunteers, members, and community supporters as we continue this work together.”
The museum, as a not-for-profit charitable organisation, is required to hold an annual general meeting.
