North Simcoe, ON – North Simcoe Arts is proud to announce the launch of the Harry Mason Bursary, a new initiative designed to support students from the North Simcoe region who are pursuing post-secondary education in the arts.
Each year, five talented students will be awarded $1,000 each to help further their artistic education. Whether their passion lies in theatre, visual arts, photography, or another creative field, the Harry Mason Bursary aims to ease the financial challenges of post-secondary studies and help emerging artists achieve their full potential.
This bursary is made possible through the generous donation of the Mason family, in loving memory of Harry Mason — a beloved community member whose lifelong passion for the arts and spirit of generosity touched countless lives. Known for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering support of local talent, Harry’s legacy will live on through this bursary, inspiring and empowering the next generation of North Simcoe artists.
Harry’s love of music, visual art, and photography was a true celebration of creativity and compassion. Through this fund, his heart and spirit will continue to champion young artists shaping the vibrant future of the North Simcoe region.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Academic Enrollment: Applicants must be enrolled in or accepted to an accredited post-secondary institution in an arts-related program.
- Artistic Merit: Applicants must submit a portfolio showcasing their creative work.
- Residency: Applicants must have attended secondary school and currently reside within the North Simcoe Arts service area.
How to Apply:
Applications will be accepted through the North Simcoe Arts Application Portal between May 1, 2025, and June 6, 2025.
Applicants must submit:
- A portfolio of their artistic work
- Written responses highlighting their artistic passions, educational goals, and how living in the North Simcoe region has influenced their creative journey
- References supporting their application
