Art Lessons – Soft Pastel

Cloud Gallery will host a pastels workshop in downtown Orillia,
featuring guest instructor Maria Iva, who brings hundreds of hours of teaching experience,
as part of its summer event series.

The workshop will focus on pastels through a step-by-step landscape project format, offering
an accessible introduction to the medium within a guided studio setting. It is designed for
beginners as well as any level of artist looking to expand their skill with colour.
This course will introduce students to the fundamentals of soft pastel painting through guided
landscapes. Participants will learn how to choose materials, layer colour confidently, and
build light-filled compositions using simple techniques. No drawing experience is required,
just curiosity and a love of art.

The workshop takes place on Saturday, June 27th, from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Cloud
Gallery, 23 Mississaga St W, Orillia, ON. All materials are provided, and class sizes are kept
small to allow for individual guidance. The workshop is open to participants aged 16 and up.
