DESCRIPTION:On April 22\, Sustainable Orillia will partner with the Couchiching Conservancy and Lakehead University to host an Earth Day gathering of local organizations\, businesses\, and service clubs. \nThe event will highlight the potential of local connections and collective actions to support a healthy and resilient environment for the long term. A nature documentary film with regional significance will be shown\, followed by a discussion led by Mark Bisset. \nIn keeping with Canada’s Earth Day 2026 theme\, “Conscious Consumption\,” Orillia’s event will also draw attention to reducing wasteful consumption and promoting food sovereignty. \nEvent Details \nDate: Wednesday\, April 22\, 2026 (4:00–8:00 PM) \nLocation: Lakehead University\, Orillia Campus \n4:00–6:00 PM Exhibits and Activities \n· community-partner booths: conservation and services \n· Indigenous Garden tour \n· herb-planter workshop \n· games and seed planting for children \n· vegetable- and flower-seed giveaway \n· plant-based diet: recipes and resources \n· complimentary refreshments \n6:00–8:00 PM Documentary Film and Discussion \n“Saving the Night Caller\,” followed by a conversation on local conservation and community action led by Mark Bisset\, former Executive Director of the Couchiching Conservancy. \nDue to limited seating\, registration is required.
