The Villager Magazine
A magazine that refuses to rush
We publish stories about local arts, culture, and creativity that honour depth over speed, craft over churn, and your attention over algorithms.
This is storytelling built to last.
Everything in due time.
The Villager magazine has existed since Ellen Cohen started it in 2008. Since then it has grown into a powerful testament to journalism with a loyal readership that stands even after Ellen retired and we took it over in 2024.
With the times and technology changing faster than ever, we felt it was time to pivot the magazine into something that will stand the test of time. Something that won’t be forgotten like the many social media posts people scroll past every day.
We are very excited to showcase everything we have planned for the magazine, including how it will function, how it will be distributed, and the kind of content you will see.
But we’re not quite ready yet.
We are still tweaking the pieces to make them fit, and until then we are continuing with how the magazine has operated all these years.
We’ll update this page soon with more information on how to subscribe and be part of this movement. So until then, enjoy our magazine as it stands, and subscribe to our newsletter where we will let people know when we’re ready to reveal the future of the magazine.
We’re planning on announcing it on December 2025.
