Monster March

By: Press Release

(Orillia, Ontario, Friday September 13, 2024) – The Downtown Orillia BIA is about to become overrun with ghosts, goblins and creatures of all kinds. On Saturday October 26th at 11am, Mississaga Street in Downtown Orilla will become the venue for a grand costume parade that volunteer organizers are calling the Monster March. The uniqueness of this particular activity is that the BIA is opening it up to anyone who wants to participate. The only requirement is that you dress up in costume. Individuals, families, groups and community organizations are all welcome to join us. The parade will start at 11am sharp at municipal parking lot #5 beside Plum Loco and will meander up Mississaga Street to finish in the courtyard by CC Fashions just past the library.

After the parade is finished, there will be a special invitation for children to do some trick or treating from 11:30am to 1:30pm (while supplies last) at downtown businesses displaying the official trick or treat sign in the window. A list of participating businesses will be published on the BIA’s website www.downtownorillia.ca, on the BIA’s Instagram account (@downtownorilliabia) and Facebook page (@Downtown Orillia BIA) the week before the event, so families will know which locations have treats.

“We’re really excited about the Monster March because it’s going to be a lot of fun and it’s accessible to anyone who wants to join us. Some people love to dress up and put a lot of time and effort into their costumes, so this is their chance to show off their hard work to an appreciative community.” – Megan Murray – Downtown Orillia BIA Board Secretary.

The BIA Board would like to thank all of our volunteers and staff for their hard work in making this event possible and the downtown businesses who will be giving out treats to the children.
