Becoming a victim of crime, assault, and other forms of tragic circumstances can happen to anyone at any time. Hopefully, becoming a victim of a traumatic event does not happen to you or your loved ones, but North Simcoe Victim Services (NSVS) is here to support, listen and offer resources in the event of the need for help, at any hour of the day, 365 days of the year.
Since 2020, our calls for response for victims in our region has increased 135%. Intimate partner violence, tragic circumstances, sexual violence, and assault are the highest percentage of the types of calls that our trained Crisis Responders go out to support community members in their hour of need. One of the resources we can offer to these victims is security devices such as personal alarms, security cameras, cell phones, window and door alarms, and FOX 40 whistles.
With the generous donation by the local philanthropic group Ripple of Kindness Orillia (ROK), a portion of these funds are supporting a new FOX 40 Whistle Campaign to raise funds and awareness for NSVS. Lynn Thomas, Development Director and NSVS Crisis Response volunteer initiated this campaign as a tangible reminder that safety is paramount to our loved ones and that North Simcoe Victim Services will be there when anyone calls for help. “The FOX 40 whistles are Canadian made and the best whistles on the market, with a loud, clear sound able to operate in water and all temperatures. The whistle will alert anyone in the area to the need for assistance.
Whether you use your whistle for boating, sports, running or walking the trails, or as a personal safety device while out alone, we hope the gift of this NSVS branded whistle with the donor’s donation, will be a reminder to support your local Victim Services. This campaign is especially important for our organization in the current climate of rising crime that we have been experiencing in the past five years”.
Several generous and supportive local businesses are helping to get the word out by hosting a special display of the NSVS FOX 40 whistle campaign. Donors can make their minimum donation of $20 on our website: www.ns-vs.com OR bring cash or use the QR Code on the display at the locations listed, to pick up their FREE FOX 40 whistle with the branded NSVS logo. These are a great item for boating/sport enthusiasts, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day or to gift your friend or family member, or for your own safety. Thank you to each of these businesses and their owners for stepping up to help us promote an affordable way to donate to North Simcoe Victim Services and also advocate for the victims we serve.
