Villager Ventures: Santa Claus is coming to town!

By: Hillary Handy

It’s that magical time of year again when Santa Claus is making his rounds across our local towns! The jolly man in red is known to arrive in all sorts of fun ways around here. Will he glide in on his sleigh, or show up riding a firetruck with the local fire department? There’s only one way to find out: head to a Santa Claus Parade near you!

This festive event has become a cherished annual tradition for many families, including mine. I always try to catch at least one parade each year, sometimes more if I can manage it! It’s a fun and free activity that you can enjoy as a cozy family outing or turn into a bigger event with extended family.

Parades also offer a great opportunity for kids to write and send their letters to Santa, with postal workers on hand to make sure the notes reach the North Pole. These parades highlight the spirit of the season and showcase the businesses and organizations that make our communities special.

To help you plan, we’re putting together a list of local parade routes. Some happen in November, others in early December. There are daytime events and nighttime ones where the lights really shine! We’re checking all the details so you can mark your calendars and make sure not to miss the one closest to you.

We may have missed some locations, but this gives you a sampler of our region and all the holiday fun that is coming our way! Make sure to dress for the weather. It has been known to rain and snow on occasion, but it sure makes the event more memorable.

Have a wonderful Christmas and holiday season, Villagers!
